Title: Boosting the use of hydrogen in local ecosystems

Abstract: The Région Bretagne is a local authority responsible for transport, ports, regional development, the economy and vocational training. In July 2020, the Region adopted Brittany’s roadmap for the deployment of renewable hydrogen, based on the following points: 1) deployment of the first local hydrogen loops, 2) development of technologies and a Brittany-based value chain, from research to industrial sites, 3) launch of major public-private European projects in the region’s port and maritime transport sectors. More than €14m has been allocated up to 2023, with another €25m planned by 2027.
Biography: After a career as an environmental engineer, André Crocq moved to public life, first as mayor of Chavagne.
He is now 1st Vice-President of Rennes Métropole, with responsibility for foresight, regional development and cooperation. At the same time, André is regional councillor in charge of energy transition for the Region Bretagne. In this role, he monitors the Region’s public policies on energy, including hydrogen.
