Tentative title: Hydrogen Driving Green Transformation: An Asian Perspective
Abstract: Green transformation (GX) is of paramount importance for sustainable development, especially in Asian countries heavily reliant on oil and gas imports, such as China and Japan. In this context, green hydrogen has garnered increasing attention due to its critical role in not only energy applications but also industrial processes.
Numerous national hydrogen strategies have emerged following Japan’s pioneering national basic hydrogen strategy in 2014. China, for instance, unveiled its first medium- and long-term hydrogen plan at the national level in 2022, aimed at achieving a carbon-neutral society through the integration of renewable energies and hydrogen. Additionally, we will highlight the latest developments in other Asian countries, including Korea, India, and ASEAN nations.
This presentation will offer a detailed overview of typical hydrogen projects in Japan and China, with a particular focus on technical demonstrations utilizing metal hydrides. Furthermore, we will explore the future prospects and key issues surrounding the industrial applications of metal hydrides.
